Jeff and I went camping last weekend. I will try to focus on the positives of the trip, as it had a LOT of negatives :( Friday started off beautiful! We loaded up & headed to our campsite in the Maddison County Wildlife Management Area. It's very remote - no bathrooms, no picnic tables, no designated tent sites - nothin! Just the way we like it *wink wink*. We used to go camping here w/ "the gang" a lot back in college. It holds so many great memories for the both of us (thank goodness, b/c I'd probably never go back if last weekend was my only memory of this place!) So Friday evening we set up camp knowing there was a 90% chance for rain & thunderstorms that night. Jeff made us a wonderful fire & we cooked a FABULOUS dinner! It was great - peaceful & quiet. The moon was so pretty with a huge "moon bow" around it as Jeff called it. And the weather...not too shabby! We had high hopes for hiking & caving on Saturday, so we headed off to bed at a fairly early hour. Well, we had not been asleep for even 2 hours when the storms came - and boy did they come! It was so scary. Lightening like CRAZY, thunder that was nearly deafening, and hail the size of marbles!!!! And here we are in a tent! Yes, friends, a tent!!! Needless to say, we did not get much sleep that night. I got less that Jeff because I just knew this storm was going to be the way I died! But alas, God is good, and thankfully - we made it through the storm. Most of the next day was spent drying our stuff & trying to clean up, but we did get to do a little exploring and even a tiny bit of caving! Here are some pictures of the trip.
The before picture. All smiles not knowing what lay ahead!

Cool Cave

Inside the cool cave (I have a scar on my arm from belly crawling through this cave about 6 years ago!)

Jeff worming his way through cave #3

This was a neat waterfall out in the middle of the woods. No trail or anything leading to it - it was pretty cool.

Caves are just so amazing to me & this area is full of them. I can't wait to go back & explore more...hopefully in more cooperative weather! HA!
