Well, my birthday was almost a month ago so I'm a little late on getting this post up. But better late than never, right?! To celebrate, Jeff and I rented a cabin 9 miles north of Jasper off of HWY 7. We had such a good weekend - other than the small hole he put in my bumper from backing into a rock! Let me tell you what, the Civic became a certified "Jeep" that weekend!!! My little car went through harsh dirt roads, big huge muddy pot holes, over rocks, low water bridges, and through the Buffalo River itself!!! Believe me when I say that next time, we'll take the Cherokee!!!
Anyway, we really did have a great time. The cabin was absolutely beautiful! So clean & well kept. If you are ever looking for a cabin rental in that area, go here. It was fabulous.
We went hiking in Erbie. Erbie is a tiny tiny "town" & it took us almost all day to find it. The roads are not hardly marked at all out there. Since we spent so much time driving around, we had to make our hike short. We did the "Goat Bluff" trail which took us down to an old farmstead. It was neat seeing all the old buildings and everything still standing.

The inside of the old farm house. EWE!! But you know how I love to go inside old houses!

Another reason I wanted to stay at this cabin was because the turn off was right across the street from DogPatch USA. It's a old abandoned theme park near Harrison. I was determined to sneak into the park & do some exploring of the old buildings, but that didn't happen! For one reason, the park sits right on the Highway and they've got the entrance gated off. So you would have to park your car right on the HWY & walk. Another reason - they now have caretakers living on the property. Oh well...at least we got to see it from a distance! This was one of the old buildings sitting on the creek at Marble Falls (dogpatch).

Happy belated Birthday! You know I looooooooooove Jasper, so I'm totally jealous you got to go! I've always wanted to walk around Dogpatch too....abandoned theme parks are so freaky! Anyway, hope we can all take a trip together to Jasper soon!
